Hey does anyone know much about prelude gearboxes??
I just got a new gear box for my 95 vtir lude, after i blew the stock one. after opening the new gear box i realsied it is completly differnt to the standard one. The guy i bought it from said it was a racing box from a prelude in japan??

    Can anyone verify this?? thanx

P.S the car runs alot better with the new box but feels like i need a 6th gear...

Yes you will find that are set up differently and no it would not be a race trans, possibly a R type trans. Gear ratios will be totally different as you will find that 5th gear is not an overdrive like australian delivered transmissions.

afaik I'm assuming when you talk R-type transmission you're talking a b series tranny? Something that can't mate to a h-series without much work...

Sounds like you have some sort of close-ratio box though, I'd be proud of it

hey my box is real tight (no pun intended )

i thought all vti-r's came this way! i think i was doing about 4000rpm on 110km/h on the hway. it even feels like my box came with an lsd. just the way the car takes off and handles very minimal spin and lots of grip.

but im happy with the set up otherwise!

ive driven a friends 2.3si and didnt feel the same.

    interesting!

It's probably better if you actually confirmed if it did indeed have lsd - what's the tranny code?
