air/fuel ratio wiring.

alright.
been given an A/F gauge. wired it all up to power and earth (used headunit wiring (RED->RED & BLACK->BLACK) now the remaining purple wire i have run through the firewall, and before snipping or tapping into any wires, i want to confirm which colour wire it is, and the easiest place to tap into it.
any info on this is good.

ps. i know its not gonna do much on the stock air sensor, but whats involved in changing it to a better sensor??

If you want to change to a better sensor your going to have to buy a wideband unit and a 0-5volt sensor, then use the outputs on the wideband unit and send them to the ECUs o2 inputs.

Look at paying $500, thats the cheapest one I could find when I bought mine.

i'm yet to understand. what is "TPS"? throttle position sensor? where is this located? what colour is the wire etc. im new to the whole electrical side (other then stereo) so help a honda enthusiast out...

why would you wanna connect the a/f ratio meter to the tps??..it is good to just connect it to the 02 sensor on the exhaust..

My point is, you can wire it up to abny sensor, pick at random, toss a coin, it wont matter because the feedback you'll get from a stock O2 sensor in terms of wideband input to a Wideband Gauge is absolutely useless.

kool, my bad...well he is talking about a regular a/f ratio not wideband...and as you said for a wideband he will need to change his sensor too...which is 150us$ by dynojet..
