Does this sound on the mark or is there something that performs well, is quiet, and cheaper?
Thanks in advance
Beeza just put some on his EK (different size, but same tyre). He recommends them for wet weather performance rather than dry. PM him if you want more info, he's a friendly guy.

Cheers Mikey!
A real performer in the wet.At limit (like track driving) they are adverage, but only at limit!
They do make a whiny sound hey Tony,so it's the coarse bituman that's doing that...lucky I dont drive that type of road a lot,it's not bad but...just turn the stereo up haha
Nah,it's really not an issue.
Such a mad tyre in the wet!

Just got a set of 4 Conti Sport Contact 2 in 225/45/ZR18 from eBay for $880 Inc shipping as well. Only driven on them for a day, but they feel pretty nice. I switched from RE001s mainly because of the price. Both the Contis and RE001 cost $400 a tyre at retail, so I saved quite a bit.
A thing to note about the Conti SC2 is that they are discontinued and that is why they are going cheap now.

I highly recommend Sumitomo Z3, they are well built japanese tyre comparable to Potenza RE01 but a lot more affordable. I have them on my evo and have done countless hill runs thy last too with a tread wear rating of 200, I've gone for long durations of constant gard driving in the Adelaide hills too and they just don't seem to lose traction. Best st tyres I've cone across.
I have tried falken rt615 semis but twice at the tracke they came popped off the side wall, I was lucky I didn't crash. I found they do grip in the hills but need a lot of heat to warm them up it felt safer on the Z3s in the hills, I recommend them over advan ad07, ventus rs2 which are up there too.

With the weather the way it is,you have to ask yourself if you will be driving in the wet much.
I live in the mountains, rains all the time now, hence my decision.
It rained on the way home yesterday and I smiled cause in the wet my tyres are a N0. 1 performer.

Simple as that.

I could not use sumitomo HTR Z3 as my tyre size is 16 inch, is the Z2 as good as Z3?
Are they any better than Federal 595?
Please note that I use my car for street driving, not track

Federal 595 RSR is an excellent tyre for street or track, I have 595 EVO in 16inch currently which I'm thrilled with, I only use on street, the best tyre through my comparisons that I've had although there is some wall movement, however this is noticable to me because I had Advan AD07 previously.
There is some tread noise but very acceptable and nothing compared to the Advans, tread wear is far better and grip is very consistent between wet & dry. I will buy again unless I fork out for RSR's.

What are the 595 EVOs like compared to say RE001s?
Also anyone open today in Sydney for Wheel Alignments/Tyre Swappage??
