184 KG lighter EG CIVIC than EK

Kerb Weight – 1054 kg Kerb Weight – 870 kg

Difference is 184 Kg.

I also looked at the suspension setup for both cars and there individual front and back. Eks hatches are alot nicer looking car than the EGs personally, but i think theyre abit over weight and you couldnt strip the weight back 184 kgs to EG weight.

So im gonna get a Civic EG hatch with a b16a, still like the looks of the eg hatch seen some really hot ones!! I was thinking B16b and B18c but i heard insurance costs are very excessive. And im sure the B16a doesnt affect the insurance costs.

870Kgs - 118 Kw (b16a) = 7.37 p/w ratio
1054Kgs - 142 Kw (b18c) = 7.42 p/w ratio
Therefore a EG hatch with a stock b16a should outrun a stock ek hatch with a b18c. ??

As Gelo mentioned - once you start adding accessories (ie sunroof, power windows, air con. etc) those numbers tend to change.

Not necessarily.
The low end torque in a b18c is far superior than a b16a.
The weight difference imo is not enough to say that an eg with a b16a will out run an ek with b18c.
It will all come down to driver ability.

Insurance wise, it will depend on many factors, I believe every state has different isuring laws, and it will also be pending on how old you are, as the driver/owner.
Being under 25, it'll still cost a fair bit to insure any dohc vtec motor in you civic.

The EG civic weight is actually 870 kg i checked on the net, several places.

The weight information you're reading there isn't sufficient as that information is added in there by sellers i think.
You need to acquire this information from Honda to get the best and most reliable information.

Gotta go to dealer and check the books, the weight of each car to know for certain. EG and EK civic.

Also thinking of B16b but i heard that engine was banned for australia so not many people gonna insure it. If they do its gonna be heaps pricey.

The b18c has more torque across the whole rev range, especially low end torque. I was thinking that extra power will be insignificant to catch the EG civic with a lighter body.

Gotta find the real Kerb weight for both cars to make comparisons.
