    CAI for DC5R...

    Hey Guys,

I've been looking around and discovered that there is pretty much no info on cold air induction setups for the DC5.

    I was wondering:

    1. what is the best setup... Value for money.
    2. Which would give a good induction noise/ Power gain
    3. Is it okay to leave the stock box and change the piping into it? would that create a loud induction noise and give power gains?

Any info in this area would be great.

    Thankz.

as far as i know, there isn't a CAI for the DC5 yet...

but brands such as AEM and Injen make SRI's, and with a good box they can be as good as cai.

may i suggest a ARC airbox?
    worth $800
up to 15kw gain w/ tuning.
as for noise, it sounds pretty much stock <4000rpm but big diff in sound when >5000rpm or in vtec.
    neat eh?

i think injen provide the best gains of all the 'pod on a pipe' designs, if your loaded get the mugen intake or better still, the gruppe m carbon fibre intake

Have a search on clubrsx, it has a huge amount of info regarding dc5's.

Ok, at Present i'm running a K&N Typhoon Intake, $380 from Mercury Motorsport (Brisbane), they usually retail for around $500 though. Its loud, It works. Before that i was using a Replacement Filter for the Factory Airbox. Hondata have instructions how to modify the box to get more flow. I have not tried this as yet. Both do make a diference, and the Typhoon works better than the replacement element. But It is Bloody Loud!!

You will find in summer when trying to take off from a stationary position (ie drag racing etc) that the K & N will cause heat soak. I had a major problem with mine causing pinging in summer.

I would highly recommend the mugen airbox, got mine new for 900 bucks and am loving it
