    Integra Type R

Hey guys random question. My mate has a DC2 type R but the engine and tranny were taken out and switched with a VTIR engine. The car has never been in an accident and mechanically its fine. Thing is the car was given to a mechanic to do some work and got the car back few months later the the mechanic F%$&^%ED it. I mean mechanicaly fine but the interior its like he left it out in the rain for like 5months? its got EPIC mold all through it.

Was wondering if it was worth selling it? (if so how much would it go for) or to fix it up ourselves. So chassis is perfect and shell just interior is fkd and wrong engine. Thanks

Be careful, some molds are poisonous.

Do you have any photos of the damage?

I reckon the mechanic should be hold responsible for neglect of a customers property.

Upload them to photobucket, flickr, or even your facebook. Then (depending on what internet browser you're using) right mouse click the image then select copy url/address, then click the small "Insert Image" icon above where you type in a comment.

    Hope that helps.

So this mechanic ****ed up the Type R engine and put a VTIR one in there instead?

Then he left the windows down and now it's all mouldy?

It'd be a shame to have to sell it because someone else ****ed it up. I'd take it to court and get the mechanic to pay for all the damages. If you get a fair settlement amount sell the car as a parts car. No one is going to buy a Type R with a VTIR engine and messed up interior to drive around in. Hopefully someone who knows what he's doing buys the car and restores it to what it used to be.

is it mould that you can see or just smells like shit? my parent once had a car that smelt like shit because water was dumped on the seats as an attempt to clean them lol, my dad didnt even close the windows up in the carparks. you can try fight the mould/bacteria with vinegar, get a spray bottle and spray the crap out of everything and leave a dish of vingegar in the car. this wont get rid of it all but helps alot.
    Be water my friend.

hey guys. the mechanic didnt switch the engine. its a long story. The short version is. The car was a Integra type r modded (turbos n stuff) origional bought for 22grand. When my mate went to pick the car up the guy who sold it to him stripped all mods, switched the engine and cut all the brake lines. That incident was taken to court and my mate won. He kept the car and got cash from them (which isnt great but judge was an ass, didnt like cars). So then he paid another mechanic 3grand to fix the ABS and general road worthiness. We picked up the car a few days ago and it was ****ed. The cars interior cannot be saved the mold has grown through the fabric all through the chairs, doors, dash, and even the sponge the seats made from. It hasnt got a bad smell or anything but its very visible. My mate is that sick of this car he sorta just wants to **** it off. Structurally the car is perfect so looking to sell it to someone who wants a project car to fix and rebuilt as we cant as we dont have the storage space for it. The mechanic who did the work is JMD Automotive Repairs, guys name is John Diacono.

here are some pics (thanks to newpaddy3 for the quick lesson)

Um yeah we dont think its worth going to court over as the car in good condition (stock) is worth what $13,000? and say the damages are a few grand it will cost us that much for lawyer and stuff anyway not to mention the time frame.

Any ideas would be really good guys else just mentally hate on a person who would do this to an integra

You'd have a good chance of winning this in court.

The mechanic owes a duty of care to look after the car whilst it's in their possession.

Quite often, a scary letter from your lawyer is enough to do the trick.
