It could be a number of things.

    I would give it a general service~

    - New spark plugs
    - Change hte power steering fluid
    - Use premium fuel to clean out the injectors
    - Clean the IACV and the throttle body
    - check the resistance of the spark plug leads.
    - Do a cylinder compression test
    - Change the oil and filter.
    - Get the tappets adjusted

when you do full lock there is quite a strain on the engine...at a guess its normal for a car that age.

Short the ECU harness under the glove box and see if there are any ECU codes.

The idle problem aside, you should not hold any car with power steering in full lock, it damages the rack!!

while relevant , the throttle is a mechanical item.Check the slack in your throttle cable - it may need a slight tighten (look on the inlet manifold for the cable , and there is 2 nuts to "lock" it at a position)
Also listen around your engine bay for vaccuum leaks ("hissing" noise)
Also perhaps replace spark plugs and give a service if needed as described before.
