[DIY] Got a honda with cluster light iffy ? LOOK IN HERE !

Disclaimer: The following is provided as a GUIDE ONLY, and neither myself nor Ozhonda take any responsibility for the outcomes of someone else doing the following. You follow these steps at your own risk!

Does your cluster light work sometimes...then not at all ? Flickers ? Dimmer switch might be fecked ? Its common for older hondas...its a faulty dimmer switch. Go to honda and pay $100 + OR do this DIY and pay $3.

Look in here. Takes 10 minutes of ur time

    Aim:
To DIY fix the common cluster-light issue found with older civics etc.

    Required:
Flat head screwdriver , scissors , pliers , some type of wire connector ( small screw clamp or solder etc) . . . abit of patience !

    Steps:

    1. POP
the dimmer switch located on your dash ( on the right had side on a EG civic for example) with a flat head screwdriver. Shimmy it out...be abit careful

    2. Pull out slowly , note the connector and 3 wires connected at the back.

    3. Un plug the connector...take care not to rip out etc.

    4. NOTE the 3 wires and colour code. There is 3 wires , RED , BLACK and RED with a BLACK stripe.
CUT the RED AND BLACK ONLY. Leave the red/black alone.

    5. SPLICE/CONNECT/JOIN the BLACK and RED wires together....i chose a small screw-clamp connector from Jaycar.

    6. PLACE the joined wires back into the "dimmer" hole along with the disconnected RED/BLACK wire. DO NOT reconnect the plug.
Push the dimmer control back into the hole and feel that healthy "click" and you are DONE !

Now , the dimmer will be on 100% constant...atleast it works !!!

No it keeps the cluster light up on full when the lights are on, so you can't turn down the brightness

But really who turns it down anyway

some cars dont have the adjuster thing at all and the bulbs in the clusters are just old/dirty/not working... search the forum for replacing the bulbs and it should do the trick.. all you need is a phillips and you can take your cluster out to check out the bulbs
