-The H22A motor-
hey guys, im jus tryn to do some research on the H22a motor that is used in the 90' accord.
is there many modds for this motor?
are they a strong motor or are they known for any bad things????
any info on this motor would be great!
thanx

Unless it's had an engine swap. The 90 Accord won't have a H22a. I think you're thinking of the f22a. The H22a has lots of stuff for it. Have a search. The f22a dosn't have so many parts readily available. At least not in Australia. They're both good motors in their own ways.

the h22 stock is one fantastic motor!
from jun to skunk 2 to crower make decent cam kits or even strokers(if ur that hardcore)
find urself a type s spec h22 and u got 167kw at the fly and a compression of approx 11 if u wanna keep the internals stock, if u wish to work it into a monster just get an aussie spec h22.
theres h22as and h22zs, the zs were the very last of the batch and were "extras" which were used in the euro r and the very latest preludes. i have heard something interesting tho, turns out when my friend was doing his rebuild of his h22z that the bearings were not the exact ones that are required for the block. honda possibly ran out bearings and used some with very closely match specs.
the motor itself is solid, has some grunt, they respond well to a tune and some basic breathing mods,im putting out 128 at the fronts where my friend with smsp headers, skunk 2 IM,RPM 68mm TB, custom exhaust, intake and s200 will be putting out close to if not more than 140kw at the wheels for an early spec h22a.
92-98 = 142kwat the fly
98+ = 147kw at the fly
type s = 167kw at the fly

i agree
the h22a is a great motor
but the h22a from the type s is abit rare and pricy if shipped from japan.
i suggest a h22a from a 4th gen vtir. which has 142kw @ the fly.
and with little modification it should be capable to line up with the newer gen preludes.

Online Performance ALLMTR H22a powered CRX 10.83@121mph not bad for an engine that most people say is to heavy and slow.

A mates H22A made 130kw at the wheels with a bit more compression (shaved head), ported head, inlet, custom headers (no exhaust) and an aftermarket computer. With more tuning it will make more as is.

well at least we all know the good points of the h22a (lude vti-r) now but given that we're talking bout a '90 exi gen4 accord im pretty sure the engine he meant is the f22a in that case, the f22a is non vtec and has very poor aftermarket support tho there are a few guys who have strapped a turbo onto them (blade for one) coz the Americans still have an interest in them so u can get parts from there but the more common mod is to drop a h22a in...
here are sum specs for the f22a9 (theres a few variations of the f22a but theyre all pretty similar, urs is actually the f22a6. the f22a9 was the 92-93 jdm engine):
Specifications
Engine Type: 2.2 Litres S.O.H.C. 16 Valves
Cylinder Arrangement: Inline 4 Transverse
Displacement(CC): 2156
Bore & Stroke(mm): 85 x 95
Maximum Output(ps/kw @ r.p.m.): 140/103 @ 5600
Maximum Torque(nm, kg/m @ r.p.m.): 192/19.6 @ 4500
Compression Ratio: 8.8:1
