    Sleeper Civic - Turbo D-series - The Final Chapter

    Guys. Ive been getting alot of PM's about my car now that is it back on the road, so i thought id update everyone on its final stage of the build. If you didnt know, my last engine grenaded after 1500km's because of some dodgy engine work performed. Just goes to show u, its hard to build honda engines correctly. SO how does it go?

    Well i gave Wynode a ride the other week, and i couldnt wipe the smile off his face. Traction has been greatly improved with addition of the OBX LSD. It has transformed the torque steer into smooth, controllable wheelspin and power to the ground. First gear goes buy just as quick as 2nd gear and due to the increase redline, you are at 100km's in 5.5seconds, add another 5 seconds and u are doing 160km/hr.

    This video was done by a mate of mine who was driving the car last week while i was in CBR to tease me! 2nd->mid 4th gear run
    http://weq.hondatech.com.au/turbo/Ne...s/P6180013.avi

    This is a 1st-2nd gear run. This was a fullthrottle shift (hondata) and it you cannot get traction! On a lift shift, it will maintain traction for a few seconds, then cut loose. Just goes to show the advantage off the full-throttle shift. Free power i say!

    Now pictures;
    This was the installtion night. As this project was a true DIY (accept engine build) Jimmeh, SuperR, my cus (who has never worked on cars before) and a few other random people came by to help. Installation started at 6pm and ended at 12pm with a running car.

    DNARacingworkings to the rescue. Thanks jimmeh and superR, hooked me up with an engine crane at the last minute!

    Then straight off to the dyno for a run-in and tune.

    For this power level, the D is a great motor to build. It actually act alot like a b18c, Very revvy and plenty of torque in the configuration i have. It will easily rev over 8500rpm and make great power (drop about 10hp from peak)but i have choosen not to keep things reliable.

    Any more power though, a b-series starts to take the edge for street use. Boost levels will need to be raised past limits of pump gas and thats when things get hairy If u drive this car, or see it in the video's, u will understand how well it breaths and effortless the power is made. D-series torque FTW!
