Sorry hondapop, I probably would have spotted the difference if they were side by side haha. Good spottin'! But could you put the Mk2 engine into Mk1? I'm just thinking. And would it be worth it - was it any better? Also I'll see if I can get a better picture (iPhone takes pretty crap pics) and post up the full res for you if you like.

Yeah I like those rims too, just looking at them reminds me of the mini. They look so good on a Clubman! A search comes up with one instantly with those rims:

No apologies needed, they and the Mini are "my era" after all. The pics fine, as good as anything my camera takes Haha and the wheels are Minilites which are still in production from the U.K. http://www.minilitewheels.com/index.htm . Brett's Mk2 is doing a bit of jungle warfare training by the look of it. Needs relieving and being given some R'n'R and then some TLC and then sent back into action, all guns blazing.

It also as I mentioned has the 2ltr SOHC engine which was the basis for the BDA rally engines and I wouldn't be surprised if that Mk1 isn't also so equipped. Ford's of that time were pretty easy to do swaps on and had a huge amount of performance support. Both the Mk1's and 2's were the rally cars to beat back then.

To be honest I like the nose of the Mk1 a lot better. I had the joy of listening to the race car drive through my car park and onto the trailer, I ran out of my office to watch it. It had a very nice exhaust note.

This ones been converted to 2ltr from 1.6. The reference to Pinto engine is because the engine was originally produced for use in Ford America's small car of that name.

Just been looking at google sites andthe 2ltr first appeared in the Mk1 (RS 2000)

I brought my camera today but the race car is not there anymore. But it did have a RS2000 badge on the boot when I looked yesterday, not sure if it's just a badge or the real deal. But it was pretty cool. Oh well.

$7500 for that! It's a lot of money for an old car but it does look very clean.

My mate had a Mk1 and I had the Mk 2,he was a nutter driver.

I remember on our formal day we were all standing out the front of the school,he came FLYING around the corner trying to drift but failed and it looked ugly but no crash luckily LOL
