Greddy Turbo Kit on Eg Civic D16y1..... check light?

    Hey guys

Basically i have a greddy turbo kit on my D16y1 Eg Civic VTI. It is running a greddy piggy back ecu (looks to be wired into the map sensor) with a Td04 Turbo. now when comeing on full boost (7psi) the engine check light seems to come on, which (correct if wrong) seems to put the car into safe mode which seems to make the engine idol a little higher... It doesnt seem to be a very serious problem and all you have to do it turn off ignition and then restart and its gone!

Any cheap quick and easy way of getting around this? i have had a few suggestions such as a map sensor to read more boost? possibly 3bar? or check valves? or even a piggy back comp such as a vafc ?

I never even knew that civic map sensors could read boost? what do they read standard?

Anyway maybe shoot some ideas my and and start a discussion about it, any help is very much appreciate and i dont mind shooting over some post credit points...

    Thanks in advance

    Regards Lyle!

map sensors read the manifold air pressure

so when u have boost its abundance of pressure the ecu prob thinks that something is wrong.. so thats why the light...

yeh tru but the check light only comes on nearly full boost? say 4 - 5 psi

mayb map sensor only reads to certain level of boost.. coz usually it only reads low pressure.. and vacuum..

no your specific problem is that your tuner doesnt know what he is doing.

The Map sensor never sees boost with the emanage, that isnt your problem, it will be a function on the BC map that the tuner has not corrected. Ive also seen this problem when a tuner doesnt understand the emanage software and uses the af table rather than the injection table. If the af table is being used to add fuel, anything above 20 in the tables will give you an error.

the fact that you restart it and its fine again from my experience is the way that it has been set up or lackof, im almost 100% sure from the symptoms you describe that it is the way that the BC table has been setup.

Thats the thing, i dont think the setup has the emanage? i just looks like it has something wired into the map sensor? some sort of greddy unit?

well take some pics and ill confirm. But the easiest way to check is to open the kick panel up and trace wires into your factory ecu and see if it leads to an emanage.

do you have an aftermarket ecu tuned for boost?
if your runing stock ecu use a check valve or a zener diode with the right value.

If he's running a greddy kit, he is using a greddy e-manage.

It must be wired up wrong if its throwing out codes, it shouldnt do that

and your probably still using a base map, so its not tuning, that can do 7 psi outta the box
