    Oil pumps, bearings, timing belts, water pumps?

    If someone was building a B20 VTEC hybrid
    What oil pump, water pump and timing belt would they use?
    Bearings?

    If the B20 engine stock can rev out to 7000rpm, but with VTEC heads and forged internals it can go to 8500rpm, how would stock B20 pumps, belts and bearings hold up?

    PS. Not building a B20 hybrid, just wondering to apply to another motor (so whatever aftermarket bits available for this type of conversion to be disregarded)

    i'm qutie sure they would use the vtec water and oil pumps
    and same goes for the belt

    It is necessary to slow down the rate at which the water pump spins. If the water pump spins too fast it wont push the water as it is intended to do, instead it will just cause cavitation (rapid bubbling), which is bad.

    But if the water pump spins slower wont it overheat the engine?
    Fair enough you'd use B16 pump, but would this matter if the engine is 0.4L larger?
    And timing belt again B16 but what if the block is higher and the heads sit higher? So the 16 belt is too short?
    B18C belt but assuming that didn't exist...

    The reason for swapping the pump has nothing to do with an increase in displacement, but rather the implications of increasing RPM that I mentioned in previous post.

    B18C belt but assuming that didn't exist...
    B16a belt wont fit, as you said it is too short, P72 (B18c) belt is what you need to use if you have swapped to a 22 Teeth VTEC water pump.

    VTEC water pump => VTEC timing belt (B18c/ITR)
    Non-VTEC water pump => Non-VTEC timing belt (B20/B18b)

    ah ok
    So, if a B16 oil pump is used in a B20 hybrid block
    But, the B20 hybrid will only ever have an rpm range of a stock B16 (say 8500rpm) does that mean, a B16 pump will be fine for the job?

    All 96+ B series engines actually came out with the same oil pump as the ITR, so no real need to change

    Well this isn't for a B engine
    I'm just using it as the closest example I can use

    Its for a Mitsubishi engine. I want to use the 2 litre FTO MIVEC heads onto a 2.5 Litre Galant block (6A12 onto 6A13 block)
    And unsure what to be using. My cut out is 8200rpm on the FTO motor, so just thinking if it's going to be much easier to retain the 8200 rev limit (ie, by using stock water, oil pump, timing belt etc)

    I'm not really comparing them
    Just considering it's the same type of conversion, I wanted to see how it would be done on a Honda
    That's why I said in the first post that I am not building a B hybrid, but just want to use it as an example

    B20 using B16~B18 head, use B18C water pump.
    B18A & B20 pump has larger pulley & B18C belt is too short.
    When B18C water pump & belt is used - no problem.
    Pump spins slower by chance.

    Regarding Mitsubishi engine.
    Is the bottom end of the 6A13 even capable of sustained 8200rpm?
