External COIL Test: MSD SS Blaster vs LX91 Crane Cams

OK after listening to a few peoples advice... i'm going to post my findings and testing that was at my expense.

The testing is based on OEM COIL REPLACEMENT without any multispark modules.

For those not interested in reading a long thread, in summary:

MSD Blaster SS Coil = not just shit... ABSOLUTE PIECE OF ****ING CHICKEN SHIT!!!!

    LX91 Crane Cams Coil =
    FTW!!!!

    **********************
OK i don't have time to explain now as i just finished doing the swap and need to go, but basically, it was insisted upon me that MSD was the only choice and not just from this forum...

    MSD
The Plug gap testing is as follows using NGK Iridium BKR6EIX-11 (1.1mm factory gap) plugs and 36psi fuel pressure:

    - 1.8mm = misfires all-round, hard to start, stalling
    - 1.5mm = as above
    - 1.3mm = random misfires at idle + high rpm

^^^Now what pissed me off with the above is the high rpm misfire. It misfired to the point the rev signal missed the rev limit and allowed me to shoot to 9,500rpm on a B16A2. Not sure if that was the case or if it was just misreading the signal, but shifting into the next gear and the resulting high revs i was landing on proved that it was missing the rev limit.

    LX91 Crane Cams Coil
    - 1.3mm = very smooth from idle to redline, clearly bigger spark visually (i have a clear dizzy cap duh!!) and VERY noticable response difference to stock/MSD
    - 1.5mm = will test on the weekend

Now before the e-mechanics start talking. i know what i'm doing and i see no point in upgrading coils if your not going to take advantage of it.. and yes i have a gapping tool and vernier calipers to do a check.

I dare say the MSD Blaster SS series is a mere oem replacement and i'm willing to place a bet that the factory Honda item is stronger.

    MSD SS Blaster = $110
    LX91 Crane Cams = $95

    You guys decide.....

As i posted in another thread, the motivation for this was due to:
    - Many Honda forums insisting the oem coil was weak
    - My results in my sr20 (42psi fuel pressure + 1.3mm plug gap and coil) showed a 4wkw dyno proven gain.
    - Too many people insisted that this and that is different for a Honda, I wanted to prove people wrong. So heres one of em....
