    hello

does anyone know what a 80,000 kms service consist of?? from what I remember reading from this forum, its one of the major ones.
I currently own a EM1 and just reach that figure, however I dont have the funds to do just yet.
Would it be okay if I just do the usual oil and filter change for now and do the needed service when I reach 85,000kms?

    thanks in advance.

Have you got a log book??? It's in there...

The service actually consists of a lot of checks, rather than changes (like oil and what not). If you're confident about your mechnical knowledge, do it yourself, otherwise leave it to a professional.

They change a lot of shit over and check heaps of stuff. Can't remember but it cost me about $420 or something like that.

im quite sure they check master cylinders (which are exxy if need to be replaced), brakes, lines, fluids etc etc etc... it is a major service...so they do a full check of your car.

with out looking at your log book the important things are

    replace engine oil
    replace oil filter
    replace brake fluid inc ABS
    replace clutch fluid
    replace air filter
    replace fuel filter
    replace spark plugs
    replace gear box fluid
    replace coolant
    adjust tappets and Ignition timming

then inspect lots of stuff like suspention, hoses, brakes and brake hoses, PGMFi, lights, ect.

Rather than start a new topic, how much did you guys pay for a 40,000km service ?

Ive got an EK sedan 2000 model and cheapest i could find around Sydney was $475-480 at a Honda Dealer.

Wondering why an 80,000 service would be cheaper for skoota at $420 (independent mechanic?). Thought it would be more for a higher km service ?

Where do you guys go and how much do you pay ?

I just got my 75k service done on a 2000 EK... they guy wanted to do a an 80k service but when he told me how much it was I told him to do the 75k service (i'm still a bit off 80k)... anyway, he told me $500+ for the 80k service.

quite expensive... but then again the minor service cost $120 and it doesnt appear they did all that much.

Was the $500 quote at a Honda Dealer service department or just a general mechanic workshop ?

Is it some sort of extended warranty with special servicing conditions? Otherwise it's a big fat load of BS!

You can take your car and get it serviced at most mechanics and retain the factory warranty so long as the log-book is kept up to date.
