Question Whining Noise in Reverse Gear - DA9?

Hey guys, im lookin at buying a 1990 DA9 integra, i have driven it it is seriously immaculate and only 120,000kms on the clock, drives beautifully in all other gears, does not crunch in any gear etc. although in reverse it makes an odd whining noise, i had a read up of a thread about it on the EM1 civic's and there were a few people with similar noises, and some think that they have a straight cut reverse gear - hence the whine. Any help and/or info would be muchly appreciated.

    Cheers, Reece

ive heard of some ppl having the whining reverse noise when the car is under load (e.g reversing up a slight slope) and then it kinda smells that something is burnt. What could it be?

The only other sorta things i read it may be is the gear linkages are a little out ot whack or the clutch does not engage properly in reverse gear.

they r two different whinning noise when in reverse.

1, is the normal constant whine and would increase in pitch depending on how fast your car is moving. - this is normal

2, this noise is more hi pitched and would increase in noise depending on your rev level - this is when your clutch isnt engaged properly and your burning ur clutch. afterwards your get a bad cooked smell...

    both sound like remove cars.
