Well i was banned for making an OT post in a for sale thread. It was a light hearted defamatory comment about an infrequent member on this site, tho it did not refer to the seller or his product in any way.

I didnt receice a warning, nor an email telling me what was going on....all of a sudden i wasnt able to access the forum!

I emailed wyn, who contacted Jon (the mod who banned me)....and i finally had an explanation. It was for this isolated incedent that I was banned for two weeks.

Im really dissapointed. The amount of time I spend on this site, the number of times i have contacted mods about innapropriate posts. Hell - i was a moderator of the vouch thread for a few days before wyn pulled the plug without informing me the reason (i am still unaware till this day).

I swore to both jon and wyn that i wouldnt come back to forum unless they lifted the ban....they didnt. yet somehow i came back.

I have residual resentment of the mods here - i dont think what they did to me was right in any sense.

But im still here - they won.....i lost. Tho somehow i doubt i will feel any responsibilty to better the site in any way. Before i was excited about growing with this site - promoting it. Now im more likely to use ozhonda to aquire parts via the marketplace.

Im still here - but in a different way.

    cheers,
    mike.

ps - my website is better anyway: aushonda.com .....you are all welcome to join me.

pps- if u need to move this to the lounge - move it - dont ban me.

This is incorrect Mike. If you wish to link the post up (you're welcome to do so, I won't bother), you will clearly see that another forumer had been warned for OT comments, and a mod edit was made, stating the any further comments would result in a temporary disabled account. This is more than sufficient "warning". If you will not give us the courtesy of abiding by the Marketplace rules or reading any edits, then surely we do not owe you a specialised PM just to issue you a warning. There was a public warning made and that was more than enough. Your account was disabled for 2 weeks thereafter for further OT comments.

"Finally" had an explanation? If you had bothered to read the initial mod edit, you would have realised the reason for your ban. You did not receive a PM from myself due to the fact you could not access it, and received an email no less than two days after. I, like the other Moderators of this site, do this for free and on our own time. I'm deeply regretful if my "customer service" wasn't up to speed, and you did not receive an explanatory email from me within an acceptable turnaround time. I DO have other things to to attend to, such as Uni, Work, Sport and my social life.
I really think think it's laughable you wish you complain about not receiving an email soon enough, after receiving a ban which was a result of your own actions.

Myself and Win have made clear to you in the past 2 weeks that you were more than welcome back to OzHonda. You were adamant you would NOT if the "ban" was not lifted, and yet have returned when your attempt to strongarm the Mods failed. Nobody has "won" or "lost". I cannot understand why you have returned despite your thinly veiled threats merely to have a whinge. We have been more than polite and friendly to you. In fact, I sent you an email recently notifying you that your account had been reactivated, and welcoming you back to the forums.
Sometimes I wonder why I waste so much typing and clicking around on my mouse.... especially when something like THIS is the result.

Moderators merely try and keep these forums in decent shape for the enjoyment of all. Any actions I might have taken have been in accordance with OH Rules & Regulations/T&C and should not be taken personally.

I didnt write this to bag you out Jon - I wasnt attacking you - i am just dissapointed. You didnt have to rebut my every word. Either i didnt make myself clear or you are reading it wrong - but certainly the intended tone of my post was lost in translation.

I think you guys do an awesome job in general - But honestly dont think you handled my situation correctly.

You stated that I should have read the edit to find out why i was banned - but like you said, you couldnt send a PM because i couldnt access the site - so how could i have been able to see the edit? While you were in the process of banning me, you could have spent an extra two minutes to shoot me an email. To take the whole "i dont get paid for this" line is a cop-out.

I didnt wish to strongarm you - i was quite upset - i honestly did not intend on returning here.

To tell you the truth - I was both suprised and hurt.....and thats what im trying to get over.

Look Mike, you're a good member.......you are one of the few members that lets us mods know when people are whoring the forums or ruining the good thing we have going (you take the time to let us know whereas other just keep browsing). As for the comment about the vouch thread I think that was a low blow........I took out the vouch thread purely because people complained about defamatory comments. It ( the vouch thread) was a trial thing and in no way was it your fault or were you singled out in any way.....so please don't say you were unfairly treated by that.

As for the thread involved i'm sure you can see that the comment made was off topic. That's why I was surprised that yourself of all people made that comment.

If the majority of people here disagree with how we are running the For sale forum and feel you can think of a better systematic approach then please let us know. We are doing this for the benefit of members and I myself am sick of going through For sale threads(on other forums) where the replies are totally off topic and comments like "gluck with sale" or "I can get this for cheaper" or "Why would you want to sell this?" etc etc. When I am looking for something to buy, I want to know about the product and how much others are paying for it.......and not spending time shifting through unrelated and randome comments.

Hope that make things a little clearer :|

I didnt know until this day what happened to the vouch thread - i had asked you, but for some reason you never actually explained it to me. Im not really upset about that at all now - it was just felt weird at the time.

Im not sure that the "thread involved" was actually the thread involved.....or maybe my memory is gone - whatever the case, there is no post of mine currently visible!

I dont dissagree with the way the for sale forum is run - and im sure that the majority think that it is being run very well.

My beef is that a stern warning from one of you guys would have certainly curbed my one time offence. I obviously have a great deal of respect for the effort you put into this site, and a heads-up would have been more than efficient. Thats my opinion anyway.

    Thanks for being civil,
    mike.

I think the problem is that there are so many members that i becomes impractical for us to keep warning members individually. That's why its easier to make an ultimatum such that others won't continue spamming/whoring.

I have nothing more to say except that my initial edit/public warning was made BEFORE you posted your OT topic comment and subsequently had your account disabled. Please do not distort the facts, nor make it out that you weren't given a fair go, because you certainly were.
I understand this wasn't a direct go at me personally, however my "rebuttal of every word" was a result of many inaccuracies in your post.

Wyn- i understand that - but i still think 2 weeks is too long. I just read another post in which you threatened to ban some1 for a week. I guess i thought that because of all my previous correspondance with you guys, you would go easy on me.

Jon - The only innacuracy in my post was a miscommunication between the two of us. When i referred to a warning and an explanation of my banning - i was reffering to a personal warning and explanation. When i tried to log on and couldnt - i wasnt sure of the reason. I hadnt actually read the public warning that you speak of....so it makes it a bit difficult. I really have not been distorting facts - we are just seeing this from different sides. Glad that you see this isnt an attack on you - it really isnt.

I brought up in discusions with the other MODS that I thought i was harsh, but you obviously touched a nerve there somewhere, and I cant comment on this fully, because I dont know the full story.

You have made your point VTEC16, and so have the other mods, so lets just leave it at that huh? No point arguing, because you will all type, tilll your blue in the fingers anyway, so I dont see the point. You now have this public thread displaying your concern, and the 2 weeks is already gone and in the past, so what else do you hope to gain from this thread (I am talking to both Moderators, Admins and VTEC16).
