    car alarm and immobolisor

my alarm died today, and i couldnt start the car at all. so racq started it for me, took it down to the auto elec, he disconnected the alarm so my car would start, therefore the alarm is not in use anymore. so i am on the lookout for a new one, pretty sure the car has factory immobilisor, its an ek1. when looking for a new alarm, does that one need to have an immobilisor? what should i look for when looking at a new alarm? the auto elec. said to go for mongoose as they are good and you can get parts for them quite easily. i need some tips and help. it doesnt need to be top shelf, start of the art, just decent.

What is your budget for an alarm?
