Hi guys,

I'm getting a lot of Carbon buildup around my exhaust. I know this may seem normal, but is there anyway of making a H22a run leaner?? It never used to build up so much until I chucked some cleaners into the fuel tank.

Also, does anyone know why if you follow the vaccuum tube from the me manifold to the driver side of the car and towards the battery, there's a ball bearing in the end of the tube? I found this weird as i was cleaning the engine bay. The tube was just hanging behind the battery.. and when I loooked inside it, there was like a metal stud.

I know this may seem obvious, but im guessing what ever your putting in your fuel tank is causing the carbon build up!

Well Not really I've done about 10 tank fulls of normal BP Ult petrol.. It should have cleared the system of anything. My car has been neglected for some time, so I had virtually everything replaced (maintenance wise).

Just wondering if there's anyway to make it run less rich in general.

You could get a piggback ecu - like an apexi afc

ronin, the ball bearing is in the vacum hose to stop it from leaking! Obviously someone has used something before that has required a new hose to be installed, and since they have taken it out. It wont make a difference to the car...

your O2 sensor could be dodgey causing your engine to run rich.

Would a dodgy O2 sensor also be responsible for my EGR problem? =) How much does one cost approx?

I got a h22 aswell it runs rich as, from what I've heard pretty much all of them do,
if you work out a cheap way to fix it I'd love to know. I was thinking about putting an air/fuel
controler on.

yeah they all run rich.. check your consumption to see if you have a problem, though if your consumption is right then ya just running the standard richness. If you make it too lean then i think you will lose power at higher end revs.
