How can you actually tell that you shift quickly?
    For me:
    1. Shifting to next gear you stay above 5000RPM or in Vtec range
    2. Your tyres sqeeks and a sudden shock feeling from the car when the gear clicks in.

    Any other ideas?

    1. The shifting and staying above 5k rpm or even in still in vtec is not really an indication..... you can shift quite conservatively and still land above the vtec engagment point.

    2. Tyres squeek (chirp) and a big shock also does not indicate a "quick shift".

Just means you where a brutal ****er on your g'box by steping off the clutch like an animal... and probably giving a boot full of gas to just make it that much more aggressive......

    You need anger management.

Trying not to sound like a smartarse know-it-all ops:  , basically it is muscle memory and inately knowing you motor and gearbox...co-ordinating the movements of you feet and arms so they work together, not against each other. It's like when you go to shift up and not enough revs are on board so it drags when the clutch is released.....practicing how many revs are needed for a frictionless (no jerk when clutch released) downchange at any given speed and any given gear....I double declutch and heel to toe into 1st gear sometimes (at low speed...no more than say 40 km/h when going into a REALLy tight hairpin...muck around a bit and you find what works and what doesn't...just don't select a gear too low or you'll damage something

You can downshift into first while the car is moving, but u relli gotta shove the gearstick into place!!

you can downshift into first if you have enough revs to match the engine flywheel and gearbox speeds....once matched in neutral...and you are going slow enough...you can get into 1st smoothly with the car in motion and without trashing your syncros. ...if you can double declutch you can do it...try it at 20 or 30 kph on deceleration (slowing down)

if your revs are matched the g/stick pops into place...no force required....if you need to shove it your synchros are on their way out, or you need to practice

I couldn't get into first when I started driving unless I was dead still.

But after MUCH rev match practising, I can get into first at around 15-20 km/h. You HAVE to match revs properly or it won't engage and you'll ruin your box. Also never force it in.....if you've rev matched properly, it will slot in.

You can do it eric......just gotta practise

PS: No I don't drop into 1st like that often.
