    HID upgrades, possible?

    Hi,

I bought a 6MT base model in 2005, been thinking about change the headlight to HIDs.. is it possible? the dealer quoted me $2900 without labor... is there a conversion kit i could use? how would it look like if i upgrade it?

I'd just upgrade your halogens to Polargs or Phillips. It's been discussed here before and to me it doesn't seem worth the cost.

Hey mate Theres alot of after market HID kits avalible ranging from a various amount of price from 140 - 300 depending on brand and where you get it, JTODA has done a hid conversion kit onto his car, he doesnt have projectors tho so its not a clean cut compared to HID's with projectors, so i recommend that you do get projectors, but if u decide not to it still will be fine, the ballasts (like a tansformer for your HID lights) just connect directly to your stock wires so its pretty easy to isntall, hope this has helped

actually after asking places like autobarn...phillips vision bulbs cost about 130 for 2...

    i got my 8000k HID kit 150..shipped..

its much brighter and i reckon looks better as well..

if ur after looks..id go 8000k.has reasonable range as well..if u jst want plain white bright light..go the 6000k

as lilwilliam said...as i dont have HID projectors ,the light slightly spreads out and is not as focused as the OEM hid kit.

    also one other consideration..
the kit which i purchased is onli for low beams.. and high beams are jst as standard.there are kits avalible which replace both low and high beams, however i dont see the need for the high beams as low beam..is alreayd bright enough...

the installation takes about 2hrs if u know wat ur doing...

hope the information above has helped u =]

my opinion get em =] im realli happy with mine..looks heaps better..(evn better then the ones on lilwilliams lux euro) =]

ps: might need to change parkers after , haha seems yellow after HIDs are on...onli cost about 10-20dollars =]

Anyone used the MTec Halogens? Wonder if they are any good.
I'm also thinking of changing to halogens but not sure of the specs. As I know the halogen low beam is H1. From what i read it's H1-D2S. Does it mean I need to get halogens for the Euro which are H1-D2S spec or H1 halogens will do?
Also is 4750K bright enough for halogen or should i go for 6000K halogen if there is such a spec?

Is your Euro the base or Lux?

4750K and 6000K is not the brightness. That is the colour temperature. Brightest for halogens is about 3200K. It gets dimmer as you go whiter.

The base model projectors are designed for halogen, not HID. So the light won't be as good as that from a luxury model.

But for your car, you need the H1 HID kit. I prefer a max of 5000K, which is white with tinge of blue. I don't like it too bluish. There are 6000K kits as well, so it's up to you. You might get weird effects from these kits though. One member had 2 long shadows in the light because of the ground electrode of the H1 HID bulb.
