at this stage i think it may grow on me.

if i was to try this diy, i would go out and try to find a second hand grill from the wreckers just incase something goes wrong or it does nto turn out the way you thought it would.

in regards to items you will need

    - sand paper to sand down the surface of the grill
    - prepsol wash to wash and clean the surface of the grill
    - primer
    - matt black paint
    - possible clear coat if you can find a matt finish clear coat as most clear coats will make the paint glossy

You can get the same effect using Carbon Fiber Vinyl wrap - I did mine but it looked better leaving part of the grill shiny so I removed the vinyl from the middle section. It gives a shinier finish though so it wont look matt.

i like it, gives a very aggressive race look sexy as wheels too!

he's blacked out the headlight chrome surrounds and side parklight lenses as well... very nice custom mod

im guessing thats the mugen front lip?

This is how it looks if you wrap it in carbon fiber vinyl (its an 06/07 Grill obviously, but it would look similar on 03-05)
