2nd gear in manual is almost 100 already.... I think around 80-90. I havent try 4th or 5th vtec before, racing track not long enough. If you did that in the long straight tracks then should be no prob.... :P

Great to watch the tacho hit 6k then do 6-7k in half the time it took from 5-6k
(2nd gear vtec is where all the action is)

One thing I don't like is that I can do 4000-5000rpm quicker in 3rd gear than 6000-7000rpm in 2nd gear. Was very slow on the wakie straight I tell you. Only hit the end of 3rd gear when I had to turn.

true for 5AT, imo.
for 5AT drivers, do you manually up-shift when in VTEC, or just let the auto box do its thing? given the narrow VTEC band, i tend to just rely on auto - it shifts at around 6800rpm for first gear, which is where peak BHP output is, i think.
-
The autobox does a good job. Not much point using tiptronic except to hold it in gear when on twisties or when you are at the drag strip and 95% power is just not enough.

as aaron said, i only use tiptronic on twisties, i like the pull back and then power out of turns, the auto is allitle slow and jerky at time here, only on spirited drives, the auto is quite good IMO

Isnt the reason for lack of VTEC kick because the i-VTEC has continuously variable camshaft phasing on the intake cam as opposed to just switching between camshaft phases?

No, the reason for it on the Euro is that the highcam is not as aggressive. Lowcam on the other hand is very lumpy, even lumpier than a RSX-S, so the transition is very small.
