what is with the lack of 7th gen's

hey i have been on these forums for a while now dont get me wrong but what is with the lack of 7th gen civic's i own one a gli sedan its manual its silver its got the oem body kit and yes, its a nugget, lol

ive been going through alot of american forums and other over seas forums and there are alot of tough 7th gens out there but its as if australia hates them.

i want my 7th gen to be one of those tough ones but i was looking into the crap d17 we get here and saw people get good power out of them by turboing them. I was thinking about turbo'ing mine but was thinking can a d16 dohc head be put on them or better yet a b16a one and somehow keep the vtec if i was wanting to keep it na, im pretty much after any information about doing this engine up na, i already have heard quite alot about the turbo ones

another thing that i was looking at was an engine conversion but the prices of the k series are still high and was thinking about the h22 but after looking on hasport site only saw that they only made mounts for the k series and im pretty sure its legal for me to put a h22 in because my cars build date was 2000 and i think they made them until then so please any advice would help alot.

oh and sorry for the long post.

i think the reason for lack of 7th gen's in Australia is because quite frankly they aren't very good looking cars... and america just has to be different from everyone else

    1. H22a is a 2.2L so you will need an engineer to certify it as you are going more than 200cc over the current motor of 1.7L which means expensive and you will need to upgrade other items like brakes to pass inspection.

    2. no different heads are going to fit on your block for a performance upgrade especially the b16a head.

    3. turbo is your only real option and even then i wouldn't advise it.

My advice is either sell it and get something better/faster which ever you prefer.

If thats not an option then just put some nice wheels on it. lower it a bit and forget about going fast.

I bought a 7th gen (2005 GLi) brand new and like the fact you dont see many about! We have the factory kit, tein's, 17" wheels and stuff and it really stands out! People still ask about it!

As far as engines go, why cant you do a b18c swap or something? The engine/gearbox are in the right place (not like the K20) and they were made till 02 weren't they???

with the 7th gen cars u can only do a K-swap at the moment cos they already have the proper engine mounts for sale on the market, with the others like the H-series they dont have any aftermarket mounts and other gear like that that are able to fit into the the 7th gen yet.
if you have the $$$ then u might be able to do it, as for the B-series its illegal to but into the 7th gen anyeays cos of the engine yr and the chassis year.

i have a 7th gen and ready to install my turbo parts when i turn 21,
easy power for a 7th gen.

if you look hard enough you can find anything for the 7th gen in Aus, ive even found out that sum Subaru parts fit on the 7th gen, all u need is the time to search for what ur looking for.

if u need anymore help to find stuff for ur 7th gen PM me

For the simple reason, the 7th gen civic is the most boring and unenthusiastic looking civic ever came outta Honda. Even the type R version, just look at it, it's boxy, it's bulky, it's unsexy, and it's unsporty. If something is unattractive, it will never draw the crowd.
