    Custom flooring

Hey. I have a 94 lude and was wandering if anyone could give me any tips.
I wanna remove the carpet and redo the floor with a panel of metal (that stuff with the crosses or similar) but still have carpeted sides n stuff. Basically so the carpet doesnt wear out but still remains "soft" inside. Real vague I know but ne help would be appreciated.

Why dont u cut metal inserts that sit on top of the stock carpet?

Cut cardboard templates then transfer to the steel
