2007 / 8 Civic Bike Rack at rear of car

Hi All

I've just bought a 2008 Civic and was wondering if any of you guys have put a bike rack (or similar bike carrying device) on the back and if so where you got it brand / costs etc etc

Any help much appreciated.

I have a Dec 06 VTI civic, but it has a tow bar so fitting a bike rack was easy. I got the bike rack from Ebay though for $30.

Thanks mate - I have made some enquiries and think the tow bar is the way to go.....

Make sure you get it fitted at a reputable place. And be careful of Honda, they tried to charge me about $600 odd dollars, I got mine fitted at a specialist 4wd place for $375. Excellent quality product and workmanship too

wow that surely different price u got.. anyway, is that possible to DIY?

I got mine done at Waitara. TJM was the 4wd place i got it done at.

I wouldnt try DIY'ing unless you knew what you were really doing. Dont forget its not just a towbar, there is a big metal bar that sits behind the rear bumper (so you cant see it) that actually attaches to the car and spreads the towed load across the back of the car. You can only see a towbar but there is more to it than that plus making the wiring harness look neat and professional.

Considering the safety implications of towing something or even put a load on it , best left to the pros for this one i think.
