guys if you do mostly short distance driving , lots of stop-start traffic work etc or drive laot with the AC on you will get terrible fuel economy. That much is true. For example my EP3 gets about 400 max out of a tank (42l) around town (2kms to work 2kms back again 5 days a week) and normal weekend driving to shops etc. On the open road you can increase that considerably....best sofar out of a tank is 690kms with the fuel gauge line sitting exactly on E
Yeh that's totally true, i mean if there was a section start-stop jammed motorway, you'd spend probably 40% of the highway's distance accelerating, opposed to accelerating only once from the onramp
this cant be true.. my brother took my car to orbost around 400km from melbourne..
and he averaged 10ltr/100km.. and he does not accelerate quick or even speed.. hes a steady driver kinda like a grandma.

That does not add up warwick, he either had to drive it like it was stolen or didn't start with a full tank. I had an FD1 Auto for 2 1/2 years, traveled 59,848km & used a total of 4,059.03 Lts. My Calculation tells me that I averaged 6.78L/100km over that distance with a best recorded of 5.8 l/100.
For the last 27 months I have owned a current model Euro Auto & have traveled 35900 as of my last fill using a total of 2542.81 Lts. That equates to an average of 7.08L / 100
i seriously do think there is a problem with my civic, i keep getting horrible figures.
ive driven to rye and other places like that, and i average 10lt/100km. and i dont thrash my car at all, i might hit vtec once or twice but i drive it with care..
although ive upgraded from 15 inch to 16 inch rims, thats probably where my extra 3 litres / 100km went.. lol
i have 17s on my car. we are in vtec between 1-3000 so not sure what ur talking about when u say ur hitting vtec once or twice? .. unless your not talking about fd civic?
I updated to 16's on my FD1 auto as well, so discount that as being your problem. Ivtec is automatically engaged under 3200RPM under light throttle / engine load conditions on the FD1.
silly me.. my mistake.. what i ment to say was, i barely go over 3000rpm.. only do it once or twice during a full tank.. =S.. unless it eats like 10litres of fuel every time i go over 3000rpm.. then i dont see why it chews through petrol so much
