Got my b16b with i/h/e for around 8k with gearbox and everything installed. Actual engine itself cost 6k, that would be around budget.

i planned to chuck a JDM b18C VTIR into my EJ8... same reason as hondavti25... i dun wanna spend too much for an engine... i just want it for cruising and mostly track n drag... also something new and decent DOHC motor to play around with.... as long i hab a DOHC, dens its ok for me... so b18C is the engine you should go with...

Duck man!!! sounds like you have a big plan there... only cruising, drag and track... isnt that pretty much everything? lol

if you're looking to JDM B18C your car, you'll need the full half cut and you're looking around 5-6k just for the half cut + labour! unless you wanna do it yourself? lol

lol u should look at my thread in allmotor.. same question. haha..

Anyway b18c gives no replacement for displacement and has more potential if worked upon.. Get that if you gonna mod your car nicely and want maximum potential..

For b16a.. I/H/E, HD Clutch,Light flywheel, tuning+abit of stripping n light wheels is as fast as a stock B18c no doubt.. But at the end of day do you want to spend so much on a b16a and then look back and think that a b18c will have gave me the power straight up and cheaper...I sort of regretted spending alot of b16a when i wasnt so educated about cars.. Now knowing more.. a b18c straight up and whether u wan to mod it or not. You already have a high 14s/low low 15s car straight up in ur ej8 stock... thats from my experience..But b16a is fast too.. b18c is however faster..

see if u can go for a spin in either car with the set ups so u know what u want !
better to spend money and get a good motor than be a tight ass and get a cheap shit motor and have troubles down the track
    i love both motors
end of the day b18c for me

I would go for the B18C7 engine, from experience driving both, b16a and a b18c7 on a civic, B18c7 you would feel more pull, where as the b16a unless u get into Vtec, theres not much difference.
