H.I.D Xenon

HI

Just really noob question
I think the answer is yes on this but want to make sure;
Is putting in a H.I.D kit on a non projector head light unit (like my EK civic) illegal?

Must it be Projectors?

Thanks

Projectors or not, they're still illegal. Unless the HID's are stock.

legal if they are used with HID approved headlights.

But then the cops can still hassel you. Just tuck the HID ballast away from view

from my knowledge, HID is only legal if the headlights are fitted with auto levelers and washers.

^^

He's correct you need projectors + washers

Also the brightness is also a legal factor

BUT usually cops won't hassle you too much so if it's a risk you wanna take go for it

i've been using HIDs for 3 years, about 6 month in stock EG headlights, and the rest (2.5 years) in my angel eyes projectors...as long as u aim the beam a bit lower than normal halogen, u should have no problems even with cops

exactly. i recently got defected for having aftermarket projectors in my lude, but they didnt say anything about the HID.
cop just pointed to the ballasts and said "what are those?" i said "they are ballasts for the headlights"
he didnt say anything more.

stupid thing is that i have had to put the stock headlights in to keep this cop off my arse. small town, he knows me too well to put them back in till i move to melbourne in a couple of months.
so because he didnt like my aftermarkets i am now blinding people by having HID in stock headlights, which he has seen and not said anything about...how dodgy is that?

Thumbs up

Hmm ok interesting

I think i'll stay away from installing them in my car then cause i don't wanna be a nuisance on the road blinding people.

Thanks for the input.
