(another) Head unit problem

Ok so i figured out how to rewire my headunit so it wouldnt forget. but i left the negative battery cable resting on the terminal so i blew a fuse...ok simple to replace, so i changed it....(im still sane at this point), so i turn the car back on, head unit works ok, and then the head unit fuse blows (now i am a bit angry), so i go to the servo and buy some more, plug it in, works brilliantly, but as im putting the head unit back in the din slot, one of the wires falls out and touches the power wire (as you can imagine, at this point i am ready to drive my eg off a cliff). so basically now i have no 12v running through the power slot in the harness. please can somebody help me?

you blew the fuse again?

nuh i checked and doubled checked. then double checked my double checking. definately not a blown fuse

both fuse boxes?
the one in the engine bay and interior?

ok i didnt check there. which fuse will it be? because in the owners manual it doesnt have any related fuses to the head unit/accessories

just pull them all out and check which one is broken...

my friend had an EG with the same problem and it was a fuse in the engine bay

one on the engine bay doesnt have radio does it?
its only the external and engine based fuses.

what wire touched the power wire..

AND.. how could it even short circuit?
you didnt solder or electrical taped the connections?

brutha id recommend you rewire again. and see step by step.
be careful with what youre doing.
and dont forget to take out negative terminal.

... and how did your headunit fuse blow? if evrything was working well?

startin to get confusing :/

there is one fuse in the engine bay
i know cause i changed one last time because my friends power wire wasnt working when trying to wire up his head unit

ok well basically, my head unit couldnt remember stored radio stations, preset equalizer settings etc etc, so i wired both the accessories wire and the battery wire FROM my head unit TO the car. so it was all working fine, but like a speaker wire (front left +ve i think) touched the connection (acc.+batt. to car) which is when i started having problems.

There is a fuse box in the cabin, usually under the dash near your leg too...

Check that one. Probably shorted that one out.

If your wiring can fall out during the HU installation, you probably need to redo the cabling, its dangerous to have loose wires in the car.

they arent loose wiring theyre crimped onto male spade connectors plugged into the car's stock cd player harness. it works well, except for the constant power problem im having. are there any other constant 12v power around the dash area? it doesnt necessarily have to be into the old cd player wiring.
