    [EURO] 50W/55W HIDs on Euro.

    Hi everyone.

My 35W HID bulb just went kaput. Thinking of getting new bulbs OR the higher power HID kit. Just hoping to get some opinion about the higher power (50W or 55W) kits.

    Specifically:

    1. How much brighter are they?
    2. Will they fry my Euro's electrics?
    3. Will the cops pull me over? (haven't yet with my 4300K 35W)
    4. Anything else you think is important...

    Thanks heaps in advance.

1.I have used 50W HID before, and they are just too bright, and might be dangerously blinding others.
2.It wont fry your electrics as the hid kit will come with its own ballasts. Note your std halogens are 55W anyway, so 50W actually consumes less power.
    3. If you use 4300K they wont pull you over
    4. I agree with jamchen, 35W is bright enough in Australia. Also the extra heat produced by the bulbs might cause it to overheat. At least thats what happened to my other car (yaris) , the reflectors have some white blemishes due to overheating.

Thanks for the replies. By "too bright", how many times brighter than stock HIDs are they? Thanks.

35W HID is rated at about 3200 lumens, and halogen 55w about 1400. So a 50W HID will be close to (50/35)*3200 = 4500 lumens. Thats almost 3x brighter than halogen!

THey are industry standard D2S bulbs, something like the above should work.

But hey, if it blows up and you need to spend $2000 on new ballasts with Honda don't blame me.

Out of curiosity how old is the car, how many kms, and how much do you use the headlights? they are meant to do thousands of hours, and slowly fade for a long time before they fail to ignite.

Is just one blown, or both?

I assume you have a Lux?

    Hi one4spl.

I only have the std model and I've installed those cheap aftermarket kits from eBay so... i guess the bulbs aren't well made as OEM ones like on the lux. The projector are aimed properly so no glare for oncoming traffic; i got the honda service guys to do it... they turned a blind eye to my aftermarket kits
