Diy: Ctr/ek9 Door Trims!!! In 9 STEPS!!

Heres my first Diy that im posting up, hated the look of the ugly stock civic door trims and been meaning to retrim in red suede to match my recaros that will be put in. it actually turned out better then i was expecting.

YOU WILL NEED:
-screw drivers
-red suede or material you want trimmed
-scissors
-bond adhesive(max bond)
-strong solid adhesive (megapoxy)
-hack saw
-sandpaper

STEP 1: Take door trim off (total of 5screws on each side)
1x Behind handle

1x arm rest handle

3x holding the trim to the door(not the screws holding the speaker)

STEP 2: Take plastic behind the side mirror off

Once done, pull the trim the pop the plastic pins out, then push up to take the trim off

STEP 3: Take Arm rest off, to do this the little donut things must be cut off.
i used a hack saw to cut them off, cuts really easily.

once all the donuts are cut, the arm rest should pull out.

STEP 4: pull off ugly fabric trim

..than use sandpaper to sand off the hairy stuff left on from the fabric, after give it a good wash with water and dry.

STEP 5: Cut the fabric(red suede) larger then required.

I used "max bond", patiently start from the main surface and stick the fabric on with the adhesive and make sure u spread it evenly to prevent causing lumps. dont stick all at once cuz it may cause wrinkles, start section by section until the fabric is completely stuck on.
TIP: dont use liquidly adhesives as they seem to be soaked into the fabric causing a dark stain. some expensive spray on bonds may be ok.

STEP 6: Let the glue completely dry and cut the required holes.

STEP 7: Stick it back onto the door trim and use a strong adhesive,
i used megapoxy, but any solid bond should be good,
(if you dont want the armrest to be permanently stuck on, i guess it may be possible to use short screws and washers where the donuts were to hold it together)

STEP 8: Let Dry and admirer ur work.

STEP 9: Put the trim back onto your door, same way as u took if off but in reverse lol.

The flash from the camera made it look alot lighter, but its actually slightly darker fabric than the recaros.

narh grey leather lol... im boring
will it be much harder using leather or vinyl you think?

i think using fabrics that can be stretched abit will work best, thin leather might work, but the thicker type might leave wrinkles.
leather on like a couch, theres always wrinkles so something thiner then that should be fine.
what bout grey suede lol?
every fabric store i went to had other colour suede except red! it was such a pain to find red suede

WOW looks really good....might have to try this when the car is near completion

also might i point something out to help others with this (hate to sound rude)

those i believe were pop rivets

instead of using adhesive or screws and washers you could also buy a rivet gun and redo them with pop rivets

(not as simple as the other options but much stronger)
