can a two channel amp supply the front two speakers and a subwoofer? or can it only supply the sub ?
nope cant do that u either bridge it for sub or power a set of speakers
for this applciation you better off use a 4ch amp where it can utilise ch 1 and 2 off the amp for the front speakers and then ch 3&4 bridged for teh sub
some of the jaycar amps are able to do that... ie in the 400W 4 channel amp i have in the manual its says you can hook up 4 speakers and bridge it as well for the sub...
If you are looking for an ultra-powerful 4-channel amplifier then the AA-0426 is an excellent choice. There’s also fully variable high and low pass filters between 50Hz and 500Hz, with pass thru RCA outputs to link this amp to an additional AA-0424 2 x 150WRMS amp to drive your subwoofers, or better still the amazing new AA-0428 Class-D subwoofer amplifier.

can a two channel amp supply the front two speakers and a subwoofer? or can it only supply the sub ?
Answer: Only If It Is Bridgeable
how?
Run your front speakers from channel 1 "left" and channel 2 "right" then take
the positive from 'channel 1' and the negative from 'channel 2' and connect
your sub to that...
No, you cant use your amp to run the fronts as your sub
you would need a dual-voice coil sub, to take equal drain from the amp on the left and the right chanel, or to run both your fronts in mono.
and your amp might have a high pass/low pass switch on it. your front's wont sound very good if you switch it to low pass, and if you switch it to high pass, your sub wont sound very good.
I have seen a 5 chanel amp, and that is purpose built for fronts rear's and a sub. but you said 2 chanel, and i say no can do
well all im saying is that i used to run my bostons off my hu when i had my s2000, then i added the amp, and it sounded about teh same (seeing as teh s2000 sucks for sound anyway).
i put the system into my current car, evo9 and it was ok but i wanted some punch, so i put in a jl audio sub tube, and im getting the punch that i want.
honestly, for the money i have spent, i have achieved what i want.
purists will argue til they are blue in the face about sound deadening, listening only from cds (i use an ipod cable), tuning their system to the nth degree, etc. but for me, as long as it sounds good, i can live with it.
