If you want a cheap subwoofer that pumps like the big guys, look for an Adire Shiva (value) or Brahma (performance). These subs are not well known but they are very respected and cheap!

I paid like $300 for my Shiva, and it was 10x better than the more expensive Cerwin Vega I had previously.

Google "Adire Shive" and "Adire Brahma" and you'll see what I mean.

Unfortunately the company has closed down so it'll be hard to source one of these subs. However you should be able to find one, on ebay or other online places.

yer $3-400 on a sub & the rest to a amp is what id do if i were you.

personally id spend more on the amp. headroom is always betta than pushing the limits

300 rms is plenty. depending on how its tuned, installed, what box, etc, and of course what you're expecting out of it. dont expect to win any comps tho.

honestly your budget isnt alot but you've definately got enough for a decent combo. hmmm sub & amp suggestions..

sub: $3-400 ones that come to mind are:
    alpine type r
dd (digital designs) '15' or '25 series
    boston acoustics g2
    image dynamics
    treo
    adire
    jl
    orion
dw if you havnt heard of some of these brands, theyre all very respectable & well-made

amp: if you're spending 400 on a sub then the other 400 wont get you any special monos.. it may be enough for the more 'mainstream' branded monos but the ones im thinkin about are 600+.. you might have to use a bridged 2chan instead.

yeah, i meant exactly what rice_civic mentioned in the previous post. I wanna spend $800 all up, so spend like $300 on a sub then the rest ($500) on the amp or spend more on the sub and less on the amp?
