I've changed my cluster lights on the DA9, not the ones behind the cluster but the two bulbs above it. I replaced it with a blue neon stick and it works just fine and dims just as fine with the dimmer switch. The two bulbs sit in a cavity and the neon tube tucks in there nicely.

The one for the aircon controls uses only one bulb and is diffused via a clear acrylic, I replaced the bulb with 2 blinking LED lights.

Lastly, the center console bulb which is supposed to illuminate the CD player and whatever is below is is also too dim so I replaced it with another blue neon stick.... Dims with the dimmer switch as well.....

ok cool so did it make the dials more blue by putting a neon in that cavity? and did you just swap the bulbs out and rewired to the led's or did you just buy new led's that fit in the same socket? yeah my centre console light died on me so now i have a reason to get neons lol thx for the alternative idea
im pretty sure they are the 194's and 74's hopefully autobarn has some

Yeah it made the dials blue.

I removed the bulbs from the cavity above the cluster (A coincidence that the cavity fits ans 8 inch neon tube nicely) and put the neon in, I powered up the neon via the power from the line that powers up the center console.

    Photos for your perusal...
