Also, HDD video cameras tend to stop recording because of the bumps and shocks when you go over the ripple strip on track.

Heres one that would fit a pillar bar
    Here

I just used a small hose clamp,a piece of aluminium and a bolt from another tripod.Works well and cost a few bucks.

yer good one mate... ur mate probably does open track days that any noob like yourself can do.. come to a real competative event from state level super sprints to racing where youre vehicle must pass scuteneering to go on the track all cars that go on any track for any event or level of motorsport or racing should have it set-up safely and that set-up looks like you would be in a fair bit of pain if u where to have a accident or even a off where it gets bumpy...

I would be more then happy to go to the track with you and find out who is a 'hero'

That's not my setup. It is a random pic from google to illustrate one option.

If you actually read,I use a simple bracket mounted to my B pillar bar.

Here's one of the kits we ran on our track car. It makes great videos but is a little on the expensive side if you aren't a well funded team. Sorry guys, no videos to show, I don't keep them here at home or on the internet.
