    i hear the scream but wheres the power?

    hey guys i just recently bought a type r 99' done about 170,000 ks

    when i hit v-tec i hear the scream but i dont feel a boost in power or torque i was just wondering if its coz of the high mileage??

    if the high cam wasnt engaged would the vtec still scream??

    Clean the vtec solenoid mesh screen.
    Always a good start and with high kms its probably filthy.

    Also oil change/filter and sparkplugs if you haven't already done it.

    Its probably A ok. Can you hear it cross over? Do you feel an increase in pull?

    It definatly opens up, but theres no "sudden boost in power"

    Vtec has a bad sterotype.

    When test driving dc2Rs there was a noticeable difference between some of them in regards to engine performance so clearly they aren't all A ok.

    but is the vtec crossover at WOT (wide open throttle).
    or gradually rising rpms.

    Boost in power LoL
    vtec is hardly noticeable when it engages in terms of "Boost in power :P"
    with sound, yes vtec crossover is noticeable
