Need Replacement Key for Civic 8th Gen

    Ok,

I need to get an additional key made & programmed but its going to cost around $400 all up, just for ONE!

(Honda quotes $230 for the standard key fob, $60 to key cut it and $110 for Honda to program the immmobiliser codes)

What to do? Is there anything cheaper out there? Can I do it myself?

u can probly just have the key copied on 3rd party @ much cheaper cost, but i doubt if anyone can reprogram the immobiliser code.

There is no aftermarket programmer that can program 4th generation immobilizers. 1st, 2nd & 3rd can be done by aftermarket locksmiths.
If your looking for a cheaper option with the key you can buy the non remote head keys for approx 90.00 from honda and then cut and code. Most locksmiths are theives when it comes to cutting four track keys so my advise is to shop around. I dont pay more than 25.0o to cut a four track key.

Try getting quotes from several dealers. Their prices can vary a lot from experience. Just for reverse parking sensors my quotes ranged from $480 to $990.

So definitely worth it to shop around!
