Problem with brake and wheels please help !

Got my 04 euro luxury for a week now .

Drive to blue mountains and back today and notice very serious problem with my brake or wheels . When i drive down hill around 90km / h if i press the brake hard enough i can feel the vibration affect on the car like your steering wheels is vibrating as well .

When back on normal road driving around 110km / h i tried to leave the wheels uncontrol . The car tend to go to left side instead of straight .

I tested it again when back to sydney . Even while driving 60 km /h and press brake i can still feel it although less notice than when you drive faster . One more think i know is my tyres make alot of noise on freeway . The car have 4 very new tyres when i bought it Continential - Premium Contact 205/55R16 91H

is this a good brand ? i am not sure it because of the wheels or the brake that make the problem but i am very worry i think the car is not safe to drive especially when on freeway . Since the car is used and only come with 3 months or 5000 km from the dealer . are they gonna cover if something go wrong with my brake or wheels . I thinking about bring the car to Bob Jane Tmart in Bankstown for them to have a check .

    Please help

    continental are reputable branded tyres.

from what i think you maybe need to take it to get wheel alignment and balance and also get check on it as your saying your getting vibrations.

i think may be a wheel alignment and balancing of wheels first and see if it still does the same thing coz you did say that the car tends to go towards the left

i think you may be experiencing brake shudder due to the brake overheating and possibly warpped bake discs.

see how you go when you are driving short trips when the car has not done a long trip , if it still happens then your disc are warpped and need machining.

    you have 2 problems.
1)Either you have brake pad deposits on your rotors(most likely) or rotors are warped.Replace with a good aftermarket pad such as Endless and or machine rotors.
2)Wheel alignment and get wheel balance as well to be sure.
Continental is a good brand(i have Conti Sport Contact 2s)and they are usually a quiet tyre except on coarse bitumen roads. Also check tyre pressure.I suggest 36-38psi all round.

    Thanks for all your help

I am not sure if all the tyre shop open on a Sunday but i will bring to them first for wheel alignment and also wheel balance .

I am not sure if Bob Jane T-marts can check and change the brake if it have problem or i have to bring to diff shop .

"....see how you go when you are driving short trips when the car has not done a long trip , if it still happens then your disc are warpped and need machining....."

IF this is the case it is expensive to change a new one ?

if your disc is slightly warped (not that bad), it can still be machined back to smooth, so not going to be that expensive. but if it's badly warped and need to be replaced, shop around first, don't go for genuine honda oem which is usually very expensive (if you get it from the dealer). you might get better aftermarket rotor for similar (if not cheaper) price.

You can either take your car to the dealer for them to assess the problem, or take it to a reputable brake shop and ask them to see if your rotor is warped and get them to machine it if they are warped.

    1. Sounds like ABS system kick in to me, hit the brake hard enough and your pedal will start feeling like its shuttering.

    2. Heading left is quite normal just depends how much though roads have a slight lean to the left for water to run off it.

You have a warped disc. Take it to a brake specialist and get them to machine it to have an even surface, if it hasnt been machined, then you should'nt have to replace the disc as it is still thick, they will measure it anyway before they do the machining. this happens if the car is always get driven with a lot of stop and go driving. The car tends to go one side, get a complete wheel alignment & balance. If you're still inside the warranty period, go get the dealer to fix it.

Vibrations or juddering while braking usually is due to disc warping. Machining helps but its not a long term solution as it will come back. There is a thread about disc warping and not to machine the disc as the weight will not be even or something.

Car pulling to the side is usually due to alllignment problem and while you are doing your allignment, balance the tires too...
