You have o be careful with the 5th Gen tiptronics. They are pretty prone to dieing after a short life (less than 80,000kms). I would not buy a tiptronic prelude privately, I would only buy one from a dealer with used car warranty. Replacing the box is a $3000 job minimum. They are also hard to diagnose for the average driver, so have an EXPERT (and I mean a HONDA expert) look at it thoroughly before buying one.

    TIP??

    SS BABY!!!!!

Chooky is right though, the Auto is prone to go, but Ive read its more the 97-99 models and 99-01 models were OK. My SS is up to 45,000kms and Ive had it since 26,000kms and I havnt had a problem with my gearbox. I drive in SS mode about oooer realistically 75% of the time....
