    Smile Best track tyres

Im looking 4 the best possible handling tyres around! Im currently sitting on Toyo Proxes 4 on my 17's but am buying 15" rays lightweights and will be looking at getting some decent tyres. I have a 94 teg n sizewise i'll most prob b getting 205x50x15 (altho i can also get 205x50x15 which may compramise my handling very slightly).

i hav no track experience but am hoping 2 go 4 a few laps in the near future. What tyres would u guys recommend, and im talking literally the best tyres out there that u kno of, that will also be suitable 4 stints on the streets and a lot of hill driving.

Any1 kno much about Bridgestone adrenalin? or other good tyres by bridgestone as i can get any bridgestone tyre 4 cost price.

Im also quite pleased with my current proxes 4 but have heard that toyo t1r may b a better option.

If any of u guys do a bit of circuit racing plz feel free2 leave some comments and opinions!

    Much appreciated,
    Paul

Are the 15's your getting 7inch wide? Anything under that, fitted with a 205 sized tyre will cause a little "bulging".

Bridgestone Adrenalin's are good. I run them in the 195/50/15 size (on a 7inch wide wheel) and they are very sticky. Good in the wet as well, if you can get them at cost price then your laughing

Why not go a semi slick, if your talking about best track tyre, they will be alot better than any street tyre...

If trackdays are gonna become a habit, why not leave the 17s on it and get some semis for the 15" and leave them for the hard driving days, as they will wear out sooner if its a daily.

honestly, if its your first trackday, the toyo proxie 4 should do you just fine... but that all depends on your driving style... if your a spirited driver and know the car well, you may reach the limit and max potential of tyre.

if your intending to go to the track, i would recommend using a different set of tyres as chances are they'll come back badly worn depending on driving style/car setup. my tyres had bad camber outer camber wear and now its gotten me into an accident.

if you got extra $$$ around then go for 15" but its not really necessary especially if its your first time. chances are most people don't push at their maximum coz they misjudge/miscalculate the factors in getting a good time.

the first trackday should be to have fun, socialise and get a feel for it...

start off on the trakc with your street tyres where you will get a feel for where the limits are of your street tyre and street car... when you build your confidence, and decide this is a hobby you want to pursue (VERY EXPENSIVE) then get slicks... you would want to know and leanr about how your car will react on the track, which is VERY different to how it will on the street... finding your limits on street tyres is much easier, and slower... finding the limits on slicks can be very costly...

Get the Bridgestone Potenza RE-001. Very good for both street and track. Move on to semi slicks later.

cheers 4 the comments guys, i intend 2 do a fair bit of street driving with the tyres aswell so semi-slicks r pretty much out of the equation. The rims r 15x6.5 and from previous discussions with some boys that have "been there n done that" they reckon 195 or 205 should b just fine, im pretty used 2 drivin on 215 coz thats the size on my 17's so im a lil scared that going down 2 195 might take a bit of gettin used 2 n perhaps not quite as much grip as i hav now.

ive read a bit about the "adrenalins" n it seems 2 b more of a tyre 4 strailght line stability rather than cornering, as thats what im mainly aiming 4.

My mate from "bridgestone" wants 2 sell me "supercats" @ only $80 a piece but im not sure that its suitable 4 the style of driving im plannin 2 do. Any1 hav any experience with these tyres.

Once again thanks heaps 4 ur comments guys, sorry if am a bit of a noob, just tryin 2 find the best product out there. Btw im soon 2 put tein ss on the ride so there will be a fair camber, my current proxes a gettin a bit worn on the inside coz of this. (sittin on kings... they gotta go)

    As Tank says.

Unless you're all out to get that last 2nd of timings at the track, I wouldn't bother with Semis.

The RE001s are a good choice, I recently had to run them at Wakefield and still clocked a number of 1:11 laps. 205/50 R15 on a 6.5 rim.

Others you can consider are Federal 595RS, Falken RT615s and of course you can go for the top range ones from Michelin, Pirelli and Continentals, but these are so ex..probably around $500plus a tyre if they have them in your size.
