1987 prelude 3rd gen auto trans issue

The issue is the AUTO - seems to not want to use first gear at all, always starts in second gear, is this a common issue with the prelude, iam asking for a friends car which he recently purchased

Could be just due to age and wear and tear.

sounds like 1st geat clutch is worn /broken

Hi, I have the same problem with my tansmission, and looking at an exploded drawing of the trans, it looks like you can repair 1st gear (clutch) without taking the box out. Is that possable?
