Would I need an amp ?

The head unit I have is this one.

At the moment I'm just running factory speakers in the front and some cheap pioneer 6x9's in the rear, all off the headunit. If I were to upgrade my front speakers would I have to run them through an amp ? I'd like to get some pretty decent speakers, SQ is my main concern. I listen to rap, r&b and radio mainly. Any recommendations for speakers ? Another thing I should really consider is the size of the factory mounts, not sure what they are, I drive a DC2.

Well for budget sake you can start off running your front speakers off the deck then move them to an amp later on when money permits. But you will get a great deal better SQ running from an amp.

If you give us a budget we can recommend products within your price range.

For the speakers probably 500-1k, like i said I do want some fairly decent speakers

I'd be lookin into brands like. morel, rainbow, boston, dynaudio, focal

But basically the best thing for you to do is go round and audition these speakers yourself. Because what sounds good to you my not sound any good to me or the next joe blow.

If your going to invest this much money in your front stage i'd be lookin at ampin them for best results and also getting your doors sound deadened to increase your midbass respsone.

in my old car im running all pioneers stuff in it n it's sound good while watchin dvd n rnb and all!! it's a good with da sound plus not to expensive.

I suggest you do your research. Have a look on auscaraudio and ask a few questions, there are lots of SQ nuts over there.

If ur going to spending that much on front speakers, you definately need to be running an amp and a relatively good one at that...No point spending 500 to a grand on splits and then getting a crappy amp...U can just run the rear speakers off the deck for an added 'surround sound' feel...

Brings me too a good point. Your system will only ever be as good as it's weakest link! But doing things in stages is always the best way to go. Get ur speakers then maybe amp.

Also your installation depicks how good it will sound also.

To maintain high SQ would a cadence amp be adequate ? Or are they pretty average ?
It's just that I can rip one out from my g/f's car and put it in mine since she's only running 6x9's off it, and i'll just buy her a smaller amp.
