i heard teins are defectable, well in the prelude models anyway, as they don't have brackets for the brake lines.

it doesnt include below the axles, so if your exhaust hangs low between your back wheels, it doesnt count, as logically that area will never be near the floor. but if your pipe and cat are too low then ur fkd.l

I was gona say, because my cats the lowest point (apart from those plastic splash guard things, which are coming off after i get my coilovers

) so if it didn't include that then I could of lowered it heaps haha

9/10 times cops have no ideas about cars. its BS that they harrass people and have no idea about what is actually legal/ illegal on cars. your best bet would be to find a copy of the transport act dealing with this sort of stuff and having a read. thats what im doing before i start modding my civic. then you know 100% your car is legal and if you get defected take them to court and im pretty sure they have to pay if you win (not 100% though)

the police actually receive alot of training regarding subjects like this now and alot of the cops ive met actually are car enthusiats. So they be careful what you say, alot of them have alot more idea then you think.

Coilovers are deffinately defectable even if the car is at the correct height.
However they are deffinatelty engineerable.

as far as i know any part of the car that is under 100mm is defectable, my cat probly hangs down at 85-90mm, but the car is 100mm on the mark if anything a touch over....
i have heard of police using a 100mm block on a extendable pipe which they move around under your car, if it contacts anything its a defect.... as far as the coilovers which im looking into getting, the teins are adr approved, the buddyclubs are not, if you got teins keep the paperwork that states they are adr approved and you shouldnt get defected unless you under 100mm ride height which you will be defected for regardless.

oh i didnt know buddyclub arnt adr approved

.. o well, i dont know of anyone having troubles with them at any of the tracks because they arnt approved.

Though if theyre not engineered they can defect you for it...simple as that. Just depends on the cop

In my experience most police are car nuts....
to the point of knowing wheel widths applicable to an LJ torana. he, he.
Who remembers that crap? and why a LJ Torana?

All those factors apply.

Not sure about center of wheel to guard though.

The problems are the ADR's aren't exact and have information spread through them at different locations, and the practical interpretation of these rules changes as well.

Also, the vehicle registration bodies/police are state bodies which have their own views.

If the states can't set a single railway gauge (really easy), don't expect much for the modern vehicle rules (moderately easy).

Still, we have cleaner & safer cars than ever, and that's not a bad thing.

My front splash guard under the engine hung low and scraped until I finially cable tied it up
