'00 RD1 Honda CR-V Sport any common problems?

    Hi all,

I've been good and searched for related threads, but couldnt find a huge amount of info

My girlfriends just put a deposit down on a 2000 RD1 CR-V Sport. She originally had her heart set on a Toyota RAV4 but I talked her into the Honda Picked it up from Von Bibra Honda (Southport - Gold Coast) for ~14k. We took it for a decent test drive and the car drove really nicely. It has 110km on the clock and has been Honda dealer serviced its whole life (every 10,000 without fail). The colour is gold with darkest legal tint.

I had a quick look at a US based site Hondasuv.com ? and some of the Vs posted were still going strong with 200,000 miles +.

Anyone know how strong the B20 motor is? For a car thats about 1450kg, the motor only puts out 94kw so I'm guessing it can sometimes work fairly hard.

Basically are there any common mechancial issues that have been highlighted with this model run? Major expenses at 150xxx interval for example?

Any help appreciated - thanks guys

The 2000 model had more power than the earlier versions - yours has 108kw (not 94kw).

My 2001 has not missed a beat whatsoever. Just the routine service intervals.

Probably the only things to watch out for are if you are doing a tight u-turn and hear a groaning sound, it is most likely the rear diff fluid requiring a change (no big deal). Other than that, the CR-V truly are bulletproof machines.

Ah yeah just found that out re: the power output.

Great news on the reliability We plan on keeping it for quite a few years.

We pick it up Friday afternoon. Went with darkest legal tint because the dealer offered a good deal and stripped the old sh!tty plastic tint for free.

I'll throw some pics up over the weekend

Haha, nice! Looks just like my "V" Sport except mine's silver with clear side indicators, K&N filter, electronic rust proofing and sound deadening, Alpine HU/splits/sub/amps and side steps. Any plans for yours?

To answer your question, have a squizz at http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic66101-0-asc-0.php especially on the second page of that thread. That should give you a pretty good idea of how they rate offroad.
