cam and ignition timing can be approprately set to favour midrange power. theres not much u can really do for alot of midrange gain. if ur serious about it maybe buy a b20 block and put ur b16 head on it
Interesting comments I remember spending hrs on the dyno playing with CAI and SRI and a ST airbox was no where near them in torque and topend power.
bearing in mind that all cars will differ, the ecu wont adjust straight away to whatever mods u change. i too have tried similar dyno comparisons. in saying that, the op stated he has chrome so tuning throws all that out. using a longer intake with airbox will likely give more low end torque in this case
Without opening up the engine and spending some money and time, a decent torque gain won't be had compared to what could be done for the same money running a larger displacement configuration.
Every intake we tested was tuned to get the max torque and power out of it we spent over 4 days doing this and they ended up being sold as the Plazmaman Intakes, these where tested on a b16a EK,EG,a B16B engine in a EK then onto a ITR B18c,on my own setup I have a custom Hypertune CAI
The life of a 4 stroke engine It sucks it squeezes it bangs it blows
