Tire Select....
HEY EVERYONE'S HERE, CAN YOU FIGURE OUT WHICH IS THE BETTER TIRE FOR DC2R?
YOKOHAMA ES-100 or POTENZA RE-010?
ACTUALLY I DID READ THE POST ABOUT TIRE DISCUSSION BE4,HOWEVER ITS REALLY HARD TO GET THE RE-010 DOMESTIC HERE, I WENT TO BS ACTUALLY BUT THEY ARE ASKING FOR 37x/TIRE, i said it's too expensive and they said, the cheaper one we can get is from the guys who sold their original RE-010 however very limited stock now.so i better concider if go for ES-100,and i did visit the official site and it is sort of ultra performance tire...so,yeah, guys here please help me.....thx!

I've got ES100's. I'm not sure how they're supposed to compare against the RE-010 but are an excellent tyre none the less. I guess there is a little more tread block squirm than I expected but there is a lot of tread depth to work through still, previously I had Toyo TPG's which seemed more rigid but they also had much less tread as they wer 50% worn when I bought the car.
The ES100's do hold the road very, very well in wet and dry and are surpisingly quiet compared to TPG's which were little too noisy. I paid $210 per tyre plus fitting, but I get fleet prices so it may differ for you.

i went from the a539's to the es100's about two years ago. I wasn't at all impressed with the es100's. I could get about 1.5 laps of wakefield before they turned to mush, whereas i would get around 2.5-3 laps with the a539's. The dry grip levels weren't up to the a539's, and they seemed to suffer from the same issue with soft sidewalls. They wore down very quickly too.
They were pretty cheap though.
I went from the es100's to goodyear eagle f1 gsd3's, and found the went and dry grip to be better than both the es100's and the A539's. I managed a 2.1 60" time which is pretty decent for a street tyre too. Wet weather grip was very, very good. The only real issue was the soft sidewall, just like the a539's and es100's. The goodyear tyres were heaps cheaper too. I paid 160/tyre for both of the yoko's and 125/tyre for the goodyears.
I'm now running on bridgstone g3's and they seem to have the outright grip levels of the f1's, but a nice stiff sidewall. I'll probably buy them again when i wear this set out.

I have ITR around 5 years. I tried many brand of tyres. Such as, RE010, A539, ES100, G3 and AD07. In my opinion, AD07 is the best choice at this moment.

What are the AD07's worth a tyre?

Your experience is very different from mine at Wakefield. I got 6 x 1:15s in a row on Yoko AVS-ES100's on my dead stock DC2R.

i've only ever been in summer, could be a factor. or maybe you're just alot tidier behind the wheel than myself.

ITRDC2: Can you tell us where you plan to use the tyres, street/track/both?
If I could choose again I'd seriously consider the AD07's if the price is reasonable.

Yes it's made by Yokohama and is part of the Advan range which generally is not available in Aus. I've seen them for sale from time to time by one the traders on OzHonda for a very good price so is worth a look. It is still a street tyre, just a very good one.
