My first time at the strip

Well i had a fkn great time, got in heaps of runs, met a few new people, my best run for the night was

    1/4 MILE 15.257
    TRAP 92.11
    RT 0.241
    60' 2.456
    330' 6.561
    660' 9.922
    660' SPEED 119.53 KPH
    1000' 12.803

    Track temp was 30.1oC
    Ambient temp was 26.2oC

Pretty happy for my first time at drag racing, I think I could have dropped into the very high 14's possibly very low 15's, given a few more runs... dropping my tyre pressure from 44psi to ~34 psi knocked .350 off my time...I think if i dropped it further to ~27-28 psi I would get very close to high 14's... ah well next time

stopped my runs at 6 cause all the wheelhop from my first few runs at 44psi shook a few bolts out and detached the cat from the header

ah well easy fix...actually I probably should have run, I guess it would have been running open header

95 vtir, mods: intake, extractor, 2.5inch exhaust and hiflow cat

    Nice ...

One Q. I have to ask, how come some places have reaction time that starts from 0.400 and some 0.500.. your RT of 0.241 seems to state that it starts from 0.0?

    Anyway... Good time!

Im not sure to be honest man, at first (from what i heard) a ET of .500 was the closest you could get to being perfect, but OBVIOUSLY ET is based off a 0.00 time here...I dont know man, maybe a more seasoned drag person could enlighten us

reaction time got nothing to do with your ET
you can stay on staging line for 20 sec and it doesnt count until your car starts to move from it

nice run, out of curiosity, what pressure were your tyres when cool down to have a hot pressure of 34psi? (if you measured it) coz i got major axle tramp as well when i was down the kwinana and got a 15.179.

Like you i reckon if i could knock out the problems i could run a high 14.
    ALL WITCHES' HATS MUST DIE!!!!!

i think diff tracks do diff ways of RT timing. doesnt affect your ET though.

GREAT times there! get some 15's with 205/60 tyres and drop em to 25psi, your 60ft will be about 0.2 better and your ET will be in the high 14's (IMO)

BTW - is it the JDM 4-1 extractors?

    and which track???

the first 3 runs, tyre pressure was 44psi (from the road in straight onto the track) (44psi measured on a tyre gauge), after the 3rd run not hooking up in 1st and shaking the shite outta the gearbox and everything else, dropped the pressure to 32-34 psi (using the tyre pressure gauge as reference again), im assuming when warmed up, the tyre pressures would have been slightly higher. (so the tyre pressures I stated were all "cold")

Yeah thats exactly what this guy i was talkin to said, try dropping down to 25-27 psi and possibly drop a rim size as well and should be good for very low 15's/dip into a high 14, It would have been good to see what I would have run on 16's at 25-27 psi.

4-2-1 5zigen extractors....just found out today ive got a 2 inch bottleneck (the cat) in my exhaust system...stupid exhaust shop..

That bottleneck could be doing you well
Some headders that have a 2 1/2" flange have a 2" reduced and then flare back out to create that little bit of back pressure
I have got these on my headders and know of a few others
I also have 2 1/2" exhaust with custom 4-1 headders
    all on a N/A B20

I'm probably going to the runs on april 5th, my car should be complete then
    I'll be trying for 13's

i agree with you dave, surely he is loosing power especially being 2.0L

when i upgraded my catback from 2.25in to 2.5in i gained 13KW at wheels in midrange power, feels like a different car to drive
