I think Sydney dealers have some explaining to do.
When I return from NZ my 04 Euro is due for 40K service and from the other threads if seen , I see its pretty expensive and prices range quite a bit. I know its the cars 1st major service. And as per my service booklet states the following needs to be done:
Inspect *
Steering gearbox, tie rod ends and boots
Suspension components
Drive shaft boots
All fluid levels and condition of fluids
Brake hoses and lines (including ABS)
Exhaust system
Fuel tank, lines and connections
Tyre condition
Front and rear brakes
Headlight, taillight, indicator, reverse light and brakelight operation
Rotate tyres
Valve clearance
Accessory drive belt
Parking brakes
Headlight alignment
Test drive (check all systems and controls)
* Inspect, and if necessary adjust
* and clean.
Engine oil
Engine oil filter
Air cleaner element
So did some of my own research and found this.....
I rang 4 random Sydney Dealers & poped into a local dealer here in the North Iland of NZ just to compare prices. All asking them to carry out the above.
Not naming any dealers these are the following prices I was quoted in Sydney .
Dealer a. $650.00
Dealer b. $490.00
Dealer c. $580.00
Dealer d. 700.00
NZ Dealer you would tend to think would be expensive ?
NOT!
$405 NZD! now this is NZD and our dollar usually is around 10-15% stronger. then theres.
