Buying Help On A Particular S2000

Hey guys, I'm in the market for an S2000.

Anyways, I know it's not the best wheel selection, but he has the standard wheels and I told him he can keep the twenties, he also has the standard springs.

It has a full Honda Service History and Log Books to match.

Just wandering, is it possible the car has obtained long term damage due to the ride and 20's? Can it still be saved?

When you test drive the car check for any vibrations coming from the rear wheels on acceleration, when you lower the ap1s and put bigger/heavier wheels it can wear out the cv joints alot faster than normal. How did he lower the car? is it on proper springs matched for the oem shock or is it an aftermarket coilover unit?

One of my mates bought an S2000 on 20's as well (What the hell is it with people putting 20's on S2000's?) and it's got them vibrations at 4000 - 4500 even with different rims that was the first thing I was going to look for, neither of us considered it's the CV's but I will let him know.

The guy said it was on KMacs and I nearly cried, hopefully the shocks are still 'ok' but that may be a good excuse for some Teins.

does the guy still have the standard rims? just ask him to sell you the car without the 20's. might knock the price down abit more too.

my mums car was lowered 3inches on kmac springs
when i returned it to stock height there was lots of noticeable damage and clunking noises to the suspension which wasn't there when the car was low
weird....
a few things that broke were tie rod ends... an engine mount.. and shocks definitely needed to be changed... you cant even lower a car 30mm without the shocks wearing out

Ricer - How many kms was your mums car lowered for? Lowered on the standard rims?

Cheers, I've decided to stay away from it.

Just too good to be true I would say, very low kilometres + 20's

I don't want to be replacing etc etc etc after buying it.

i prefer to buy stock cars then any with modifications...

but then again my friend bought a s2000
with 18inch volk rims and a hi tech muffler...
and i'd say that car after been inspected 100times is pretty much faultless

my mum had 17inch wheels
lowered for no more then 15 000kms

im not worried about the 20s

i doubt the kms are genuine and its prolly been in an accident

get a mechanic to check it out thorough

if you want to know if the odometer has been tampered with then ask JNS01k i think his name is. he was the one who told me how to check to see if the dash has been wound back using a computer

mate, i have been looking around and some the s2k's for sale in the current batch are bad apples. lol esp the white ones.
